Reading and Leeds festival ticket holders received refunds after three headliners pulled out last week. Italian rock band Måneskin, American rapper Jack Harlow and pioneering rap-rock band Rage Against The Machine dropped out of the music festival last minute.

Charli XCX, AJ Tracey and The 1975 were announced as replacements for the headliners shortly after.

But ticket holders took to social media to express their uproar for the stand-in acts, with one saying that the “replacement was nowhere close to the same music genre.”

Although Ticketmaster replied, “changes to the line-up of a multi-performer event such as a festival don’t make a booking eligible for a refund” to a refund inquiry on Twitter, BBC reports that some festival-goers received their money back.

Harriet told BBC she emailed Ticketmaster “straight away” after learning about Reading and Leeds festival’s substantial line-up changes. Although “it took them nearly a week” to reply, Harriet received her ticket refund after “some back and forth.”

Other festival-goers also said on social media they received refunds from Ticketmaster. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t unhappy ticket holders who are still due to get their money back.

Daniel told BBC that despite reaching out to the ticketing company, he wasn’t eligible for a refund because he used a payment plan to purchase the festival pass.

“I tried to press them more, asking questions about it. And they’ve now just stopped responding to me. They have not done their part in terms of the event and actually providing customer service to deal with these problems.”

Reading and Leeds festival organizers announced on social media they were “saddened to hear that Jack Harlow and Måneskin have decided to perform at an award show the same weekend they were confirmed to play Reading and Leeds.”

The music festival pair will kick off on Friday in Reading and Leeds. In spite of the abrupt pullouts, Reading and Leeds festival will see a bank holiday weekend fuelled by chart-toppers and iconic music performances.
