Party city Miami is ditching top-shelf liquor and boozy cocktails to make room for the zero-alcohol movement. Most of Miami’s bars have been converted to the sober-curious cult, transforming their menus into generous lists of booze-free and low-ABV options.

According to Miami New Times, popular downtown bars go beyond their nightlife venues status and create sober spaces for those abstaining from alcohol. While cocktails, wines, and liquors are still up for grabs, mocktails and zero-proof drinks are also part of the picture.

The shift will broaden drinking choices for the ones who want to reduce or eliminate alcohol consumption.

Ben Potts, co-owner of Miami restaurants Beaker & Gray, called 2023 the year of the “nonalcoholic beverage revolution.”

“It’s been slowly growing and whispered in the dark corners of bars that nonalcoholic cocktails are cool and starting to taste pretty good. It’s evident with all the producers that are making zero-proof beers and liquors.”

With nonalcoholic spirit brands like Lyre’s and Everleaf that promise the same tequila, bourbon, and aperitif taste, it’s not surprising that Gen Zers are increasingly becoming sober curious.

A Berenberg Research report revealed that Gen Zers drink 20% less than their Millennial counterparts. The findings also show that Millennials drink less than Gen X and Baby Boomers.
