elrow is an expressive and colorful celebration of life and dance. What started as a mom and pop’s developed into a multi-million event company.

The parties took off as Gatsby-inspired affairs in 1993 before becoming a hit event in the 2000s. elrow is a moving spirit as it considers itself a “traveling festival,” taking over city after city worldwide.

The metamorphosis of elrow

The mega-festival started as a family-owned cafe in Fraga, Barcelona, and soon developed into a cultural hub and meeting place for the area’s residents in 1870. Juan Arnau, an ambitious party animal, was on a quest to find the ultimate party.

In 1942, Arnau established Florida 135, a cinema-turned-club in Fraga. Arnau’s son inherited his father’s love of electronic music and planned a friendly rave on a family estate which later grew into the Monegros Festival.

In 2001, the festival took on its name, row, given by Ricart Robles, co-owner of Sonar Festival.

The elrow brand saw many obstacles, and from holding illegal morning raves to drug-related deaths, it was finally fully formed and ready for world domination in the early 2010s. In 2017, elrow Town took London by storm.

elrow Town London is always set in greenfields and idyllic locations since it’s an outdoor, morning-to-midnight event. The bigger the space, the better. In this 2022 edition, the festival found its home in Parsloes Park, East London.

Previous editions were held in Trent Park and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Unfortunately, the park was on a reduced capacity for the 2022 edition, only 25,000 attendees were expected.

Since this is a much-awaited return after two COVID-19-enforced cancellations, we can’t complain.

elrow Town puts sustainability at the festival’s forefront. The large-scale event company doesn’t just talk the talk – it reuses its decorations for up to four years, upcycles costumes, and uses eco-friendly utensils alongside recycling points in festivals.

If that isn’t enough, with increased awareness of carbon emissions, elrow Forest is a collaboration with Tree-Nation to create an actual forest in Thailand. Over 35,000 trees have been planted thus far.
