Beyond The Valley Festival continues to grow strength to strength

Beginning in 2014, Beyond The Valley was founded by friends Christian Serrao, Filippo Palermo, Tom Caw, Nicholas Greco, and Michael Christidis.

Labelling Beyond The Valley’s first edition as modest would be an understatement. Before the music festival became the music mammoth we know today, its inaugural event drew only 8,000 attendees.

The second edition doubled the headcount, with 16,000 festival-goers swarming the grounds. Fast forward to the 2019 edition, the music mecca was attracting 25,000 revelers – and since then, this number has been ever-increasing.

In an interview, Greco said that Beyond The Valley’s crew wanted to keep things intimate with no more than 4,000 attendees. Although they didn’t expect to go international at first, the founders were getting “really cool offers” and realised “there were a lot of artists floating around.”

Beyond The Valley prides itself in being a safe and inclusive space where everyone is welcome, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

POOF DOOF, a famous gay nightclub in Melbourne, hosts Pride Patrol, a party bus roaming around Beyond The Valley’s grounds before finally stopping at a stage.

Party-goers express their undivided support for the LGBT+ community by waving rainbow flags over the crowd and dressing however they feel like.

In 2019, Beyond The Valley launched a fundraising campaign to support those affected by the Australian bushfire catastrophe. As the unbearable Australian summer heatwave swept across the state, the fest donated $5,000 to help the communities that suffered devastating losses.

The festival also partnered with Clean Vibes, a specialist company in event cleaning, to provide sustainable cleaning services and waste management services that focus on being environmentally friendly.

In 2019, Beyond The Valley recycled 59% of all on-site waste to decrease the amount of waste going into landfills. Now that’s what we call an environmentally conscious fest.
