Ushuaia Ibiza kicked off as a humble beach bar

Ushuaia Ibiza, the former Hotel Fiesta Club, was founded by Frenchman Yann Pissenem in 2008 when he stumbled upon a virgin beach. This land soon became the starting grounds for Ushuaia Ibiza, a name which translates to ‘the deep bay’.

Finding shelter in Playa d’en Bossa, Ushuaia was an advocate for the afternoon-partying concept, which ignited the island’s appetite for dancing under the sun and united two generations of clubbers.

Although it kicked off as a modest beach bar, Ushuaia broke through the ceiling when Pissenem partnered up with Abel Matutes, Ibiza’s former mayor.

The outcome of their tie-up? Electronic powerhouse Ushuaia transcended the beach club status and rehomed to shelter one of the most lusted-after Ibizan luxury hotels.

In no time, Ushuaia’s ultrasonic rise as a global clubbing brand embodied the journey that every music mecca aspired to experience.

Fast forward to 2013, successful seasons are more of an asset than a stroke of luck at Ushuaia Ibiza. The brand’s roaring success gave birth to The Ushuaia Tower the same year, creating the ultimate ritzy destination for summer clubbers.

Playa d’En Bossa is Ushuaia’s home

When Pissenem came to Ibiza in 2008, he realized there was a gap in the market for beach clubs. As he mentioned in an interview with Redbull, there were “no more after-parties, nobody dancing beneath the sun.”

Soon, Pissenem learned that there was an empty land patch on the Playa d’En Bossa, just 10 minutes away from the southern part of the party island.

Back in the day, Playa d’en Bossa would have been considered an almost untouched island patch – a characteristic that doesn’t sit well with its current notoriety.

When you say Playa d’en Bossa, you pretty much say an international melting pot of European jet sets, electronic aficionados and clubbers whose happiness translates into a David Guetta set.

Scattered with beach bars, boutiques, high-end hotels and beach clubs, Playa d’en Bossa is one of Ibiza’s most lusted-after beaches.

Remember that Ushuaia is not far from Ibiza’s airport, so there’s a high chance you’ll see airplanes swooping above your head while partying.

The nightclub has a massive capacity of 4,000 people

As the queen of day clubbing, Ushuaia embodies a true Ibizan vibe with its open-air venue that can accommodate a 4,000 partygoers.

Featuring some massive mini-festival vibes, the nightclub showcases a unique blueprint with two stages placed on opposite sides – one for warm-up sets and the other for headliners – as well as a pool in the middle of the dance floor.

Ushuaia’s main stage has now become a point of reference for the party island, as it embodies a big chunk of Ibiza’s party spirit. Embellished with Ushuaia’s logo, hypnotic visuals, and flamethrowers, this stage is the playground of Ibiza’s red-letter DJ sets.

What’s an award-winning nightclub without a sound system that makes your heart sink in a bass-fuelled realm?

Ushuaia’s Adamson sound system is just what the EDM doctor prescribed. Equipped with state-of-the-art speaker cabinets perched on each side of the stage, this sound system is bound to sweep you off your feet – no matter how far you are from the stage.

Many A-list electronic DJs spun the decks at Ushuaia

Forever loyal to the heart-racing electronic sets, Ushuaia Ibiza is in love with the EDM genre as much as Romeo was with Juliet.

House, techno and deep-house beats blasted through Ushuaia’s speakers since day one – and they continue to do so today. All of its events – from the fresh ANTS-themed party to the much-awaited Closing Season celebration – revolve around electronic sets.

As a venue that plays EDM sets five days a week, it seems only natural that only blue-blooded DJs from the electronic realm took over the decks.

Ushuaia’s main stage can translate into the favorite playground for a wide array of music legends, including the likes of Martin Garrix, Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Carl Cox.

But that doesn’t mean Ushuaia stepped back from hosting some major league moments. Back in 2019, the clubbing spot hosted Swedish House Mafia’s comeback. Not only that it was the only show put by the supergroup in Ibiza, but it also was their very first performance after parting ways in 2012.

Ushuaia is a 360 Ibizan experience

As you can tell, Ushuaia is a pro at bringing some A-list DJs on Ibizan grounds. If you want to get lost into their throbbing beats, you will be charged accordingly. Although it is an open-air venue, Ushuaia has a soft spot for delivering top-notch VIP treatment. For some bottles of expensive bubbly and a table that oversees the crowd, you can expect to pay a few thousands.

Forget about the clubbing side of things for a second – Ushuaia might be popular for its roaring daytime parties, but the brand goes beyond that.

Featuring a 360 approach to Ibizan experiences, Ushuaia is also a five-star hotel that merges traditional luxury with a Gen Z gist.

With a rooftop lounge, buzzing beachfront and cutting-edge décor, the Ushuaia Hotel sits high in Ibiza’s top accommodation picks.

There is something up for grabs for foodies, too. Ushuaia showcases an eclectic mix of five restaurants that cater to anyone and everyone. From finger-licking antipasti to Asian flavors and fresh seafood, an ineffable gastronomical experience is always guaranteed.

Although Ushuaia embodies the type of clubbing experience you want to relish in all year round, we have some bad news for you.

The beach partying destination is a seasonal venue that kicks off its electronic-fuelled events in April and closes down in October.

Ushuaia’s founder slept on the venue’s floor for four months

Rumour has it that in the aftermath of Ushuaia’s first season, Yann Pissenem slept in the bar with his dog.

When he first came to Ibizan grounds, he didn’t own a winter house – so he had to camp on the bar’s floor with no light or electricity. In fact, this has been confirmed by Pissenem himself in his interview with Redbull.

Piessenem has come a long way since then. The Ibizan mogul now owns two of the most sought-after partying destinations on the island – Ushuaia and Hi Ibiza.

The electronic holy grail bridged the gap between the adult crowd and younger generations

When Ushuaia saw daylight for the first time, the concept of day clubbing was a complete stranger to the Ibizan shores. Back in the day, staple nightclub names such as Amnesia and Pacha opened their doors late at night, allowing revellers to soak in the morning sun while partying.

But it seemed like the clubbing approach was tailored only for the budding generation of party-goers.

Pissenem turned this status quo into a money-making selling point when he introduced daytime partying through Ushuaia.

At the end of the day, this is what Ushuaia was – a venue where eclectic EDM beats reigned supreme, open at an hour that would allow everyone to immerse in Ibiza’s pleasure-seeking soul.

With its refreshing open-air concept, blue-blooded DJs, and liberating feeling, Ushuaia Ibiza always delivers an ineffable vibe at every hour of the clock.
