The nightclub is named after a famous Italian novel
Christening a clubbing destination is no easy feat. Club names should have a ring to them, sound catchy and carry rich symbolism – just like Gattopardo does.
The inspiration behind the club’s identity was Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s spellbinding novel The Leopard.
This iconic story gave birth to an eponymous historical drama film before its symbolism was ultimately preserved in the form of a disco club.
As a result, the club’s decor features aesthetics of Sicilian palaces from the Bourbon era.
Gattopardo club Milan found shelter in an old church
If clubbing in a church doesn’t sound like a once in a lifetime opportunity, we don’t know what will. Gattopardo’s elegance reigns in the now deconsecrated San Giuseppe della Pace church, which was built at the beginning of the 20th century.
It served its religious function until the early 1970s – in the aftermath of the church’s demise, it was deconsecrated and experienced a state of neglect for the next two decades.
It wasn’t until 2001 when Gattopardo joined the group chat and found shelter within the building’s walls. So don’t expect priests and altars – Gattopardo swapped those for an off-the-wall interior, sumptuous bar and jaw-dropping chandelier.
