The venue’s location had a long and successful history of superclubs

Tunnel Club Birmingham wasn’t the first nightlife hotspot to open its doors underneath the railway line.

The underground venue that shelters the Birmingham club has been transformed and revamped since the 80s, as it was constantly morphed from one club to another.

The Jug was the first one to take pride in the venue’s off-the-wall location at the beginning of the 80s. A decade later, it was revived as the Subway City.

Peaking in the hard-house era, Subway City quickly hit the jackpot and became synonymous with Birmingham’s techno scene – but its roaring success didn’t last long. At the beginning of the 2000s, the clubbing destination closed its doors and made room for Tunnel Club Birmingham.

The club features four rooms

What’s going to stir up the mind-boggled feeling when you set foot in Tunnel Club is the location.

Buried in Birmingham’s industrial fringe, the underground venue lies beneath an active railway. But don’t expect the distinctive “chuff chuff” sounds – the Tunnel club adapted its warehouse-like environment to a go-to clubbing spot.

It spans across four different rooms, each catering to a distinct crowd through the masterfully-curated selection of tunes, DJs and themed parties.

The icing on the cake? Each room features LED lights, props, confetti cannons and everything your clubbing gang might need to enjoy a buzzing night out.

“House of God”, the club’s most famous night, has been going for almost three decades

Tunnel Club carries on the legacy of its booming nightlife predecessors. Although the partying spot is on a constant hunt to reinvent itself, Tunnel Club has a soft spot for traditions. No wonder the famous “House of God” night has been going on for almost 30 years.

The night was the ultimate crowd-pleaser during the Subway City days and quickly morphed into a defining sound for the city’s rave scene.

When the Subway City was done and dusted, fans were worried their emblematic night would be blown off course – but Tunnel Club picked it up and gave it a new home.

Along with electronic tunes, hip-hop is one of the most played genres
