When London-based student Omar Dhadra invited the whole TikTok community to his Project X-style birthday party, he didn’t expect to get 2.5 million views. Last month, Dhadra posted a video with his home address and a date, saying, “everyone’s invited to my birthday party.”

Among comments from influencers like Lauren Alexis and companies such as Reese’s, people labeled the invitation as a ploy. Some users mocked the video with comments like “that’s probably his ex’s address” and “gonna call the police on it.”

But according to Dhandra, it was all simply pursuing the perfect night. “We’re creating what we imagine the perfect night to be,” he told Vice before the birthday bash.

“We’re not actually making money, to be honest. That’s not what this is all about. It’s more about just having a sick night.”

Since 240,000 likes don’t guarantee a Project X-like party, things didn’t go smoothly. Police caught wind of the TikTok invite and asked the bar owner to cancel the event.

However, Dhandra was going to do anything but cancel his birthday party. He moved the event down the road at Basing House, a 300-capacity venue.

A dream in British nightlife’s current state, Dhandra’s event was free of charge if you got your tickets early, and £6 for latecomers.
