When the notorious Fyre Festival ended with chaos in 2017, people thought they wouldn’t hear its name again. But the festival’s co-creator Billy McFarland sent social media into a frenzy when he tweeted about Fyre Festival 2.

“Fire Festival II is finally happening,” McFarland wrote. “Tell me why you should be invited.”

Netizens turned to the comments section to mock the event’s catastrophic debut or encourage the entrepreneur’s venture.

Some users made references to the infamous cheese sandwich Tweet while others asked about Andy King’s attendance.

Most of the comments make fun of McFarland’s announcement, showing Fyre Festival’s tumultuous echo still lingers.

“Because I’ve camped in pretty bad conditions and won’t complain about the (lack of) housing,” one user said. Others said “I’ll do the customs, no felation required,” referring to event producer Andy King’s take one for the team motto to free Evian water.

But not every comment was discouraging. Some Twitter users called the entrepreneur’s return as “one of the greatest comebacks since the QR code.”

Some netizens considered the possibility of pulling Fyre Festival 2 off, noting that it would be “one of the greatest comebacks of all time.”

Admitted fraudster Billy McFarland was released from prison in March 2020, despite being sentenced to six years. In 2018, he confessed to conning investors in the ill-fated Fyre Festival.

Billed as a luxurious and A-list music festival in the Bahamas, the event spiraled out of control and became a nomadic land with an unfinished campsite instead of glamping tents.
