If Amsterdam’s iconic Red Light District was a club, that would be Taipei’s Taboo.
Groundbreaking and queer from A to Z, the intimate nightclub can be found in Zhongshan District. Located in the city’s north, the area is widely considered one of Taipei’s most fascinating districts thanks to its vibrant Japanese culture and permanently buzzing nightlife.
Taboo is housed inside the basement of a tall, multi-story red building with large glass windows.
With its low ceilings and industrial architecture, the Taipei club places its bets on an underground allure. Sultry through and through, Taboo stays loyal to its namesake with red lights flooding the venue, an intimate dance floor, and Japanese-style decor elements.
Poles are scattered throughout the venue, allowing clubbers to spice up things.
When drag shows don’t take center stage, Taboo is filled with K-pop beats – something the crowd loves singing along to. As a lesbian-only nightclub, Taboo’s gates are open for queer women and their female allies.
A haven for LGBT+ women, Taboo club has the vibe you should experiment at least once in your life.
